Profile
Mike is a fellowship trained peripheral nerve surgeon with a background in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. His practice encompasses all aspects of nerve injury treatment from primary intervention to late reconstruction. His practice is 80:20 Adult to paediatric. Mike runs joint clinics with the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery at Queens Square for complex and educationally valuable cases and provides a nerve injury service for injured military personnel at Headley Court.


Appointed in Autumn of 2008, Mike is one of four consultants in the national referral centre for nerve injury. He is the clinical lead of the service. Mike has national roles in Commissioning of Specialist Surgical Services in the UK and in the recruitment of Orthopaedic surgeons. Mike is interested in outcomes in peripheral nerve surgery and surgical training. He founded the
simulation suite at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and contributes to the UCL MSc programmes for Musculoskeletal Orthopaedics and Simulation. He has recently relinquished his role of Director of Medical Education to focus on outcome research.
